Bourbon Barrel-aged Doggerland
Doggerland spent one year as our winter seasonal in 2016, but lives on in barrel-aged form. This Baltic-style Porter (strong porter fermented with lager yeast) was laid to rest in Kentucky bourbon barrels. The barrels were moved into the back corner of our cooler by the brewers and left to rest undisturbed for many moons where the liquid was allowed to seamlessly integrate with the oak and formerly residing spirits. The result incorporates notes of vanilla, coconut and oak tannin, while the extended lagering helped create an exceptionally smooth and deliciously dark beer.
