  • Time to Plant Winter Crops in the garden

    Summer is over, fall is here and our Urban garden is slowing down. Join us this Saturday from 9:30-11:30 at the Oakshire garden ( the farmhouse next to the brewery) to plant Fava beans, greens, and help with a host of other small garden projects. We will also be baking Cinnamon rolls in Hestia the Earth Oven recently built.     Ill Tempered Gnome

    The Ill Tempered one is back! Our favorite Winter Seasonal has hit the shelves, bars, and restaurants in full force and we couldn’t be more excited. The name, Ill Tempered Gnome, is where we seem to get the most inquiries. You’ll have to bend the ear our founder Jeff about his Colorado road trip and the high altitude ice cream stop which provided the inspiration. Gnome is, in short, a hoppy Brown Ale, but it is so much more than that.

    Oakshire Tasting Room CLOSED Saturday May 15th

    Due to this weekend's Sasquatch beer festival, the Brewery tasting room will be closed. We regret not being around this Saturday, but need to let our crew enjoy the yearly festival honoring the late Glen Hay Falconer. Why don't you come down and join us at the Hilton. It should be a great fest and we are debuting the Glen's Hop Vice-this year with a donkyload of Simcoe. Cheers, The Oakshire Crew

    Project: Update your website!

    With all the great stuff going on at Oakshire like a silo raising and a spring seasonal release, we hardly have time to remember the little thngs. But you've reminded me that you're having a hard time keeping up with all the beers that we've been brewing and want to know more information about them before they are gone. As you know, the best way to do that is to come hang out on a Saturday from 12-4 at the brewery. That way you let your tastebuds do the learning. But another great way is for me to catch up our list here on the website. I have done just that, by the way.

    The recently launched website, www.craftbeer.com, is a must link. Check it out for all kinds of information on the world of craft beer. From education for the novice to lots of videos and stories for the beer geek in all of us. Are you a foodie? Some great recipes are there and the site is also interactive so more content, stories, videos, and recipes will be added. It is designed by the Brewers Association, our professional trade organization. They are the same folks who also put on the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

    Looking Backward....Looking Forward.

    Well, I'm a little tardy on my year end reflections like so many people seem to do as the calender rolls from December to January. I think I'll look back with a list of the top 5 amazing things that happened in 2009 at Oakshire Brewing. And then we'll look ahead to some exciting things to look forward to in 2010. 5. The company has grown from 4 employees to 8, including me as I hauled my family from Illinois to Oregon in March. 4. We had 5 tanks in the cellar (fermentation and packaging) and now we have 11! 3.

    Good evening Oakshire fans, Just wanted to send out a quick post and wish everyone an early Merry Christmas and give everyone a heads up on Dock Sale hours and Tours and Tastings this weekend! We will be open today, Thursday 12/24, for Dock Sales during our regular hours from 3-6PM. We will be closed tomorrow in observance of the Christmas holiday. However, on Saturday we will be open for Tours, Tastings, Dock Sales, and delicious grub from our mobile vendors friends at Devour.
