Oakshire brews beer to promote the importance of watershed protection
Land Trust Lager gets it’s name from the unique partnership between EWEB, Oakshire and Mckenzie River Trust. Land Trusts are non-profit organizations directly involved in the permanent protection of land and its natural resources for the public benefit. The McKenzie River Trust (MRT) is a local land trust that works to protect land in eight different watersheds in western Oregon by accepting donations of property, buying land or helping landowners establish legal restrictions on their land that protects their conservation values.
Protecting the clean, pure water of the McKenzie River is where MRT began its efforts in 1989, and today that exceptional water from the McKenzie is the #1 ingredient in local beer. All proceeds from Oakshire’s Land Trust Lager go to the Berggren Demonstration Farm project, located on land owned by the McKenzie River Trust along the lower McKenzie River. To learn more about MRT and the Berggren Farm Project, take a look at this video. Land Trust Lager will be released at 16 Tons on September 8th in conjuction with the Eugene Pearl District annual block party. To learn more visit Eugene Pearl District for further details.
