Throughout the next four months, we will be releasing three special Reserve Series beers in Eugene to celebrate the Eugene Water and Electric Board’s (EWEB) 100th anniversary. Clean water is the first step in brewing great beer and the Eugene/Springfield area has one of the greatest sources of fresh water from the McKenzie River, thanks to EWEB.
The beers include a Northwest Pale Ale called Green Power Pale Ale, an Oktoberfest beer called Land Trust Lager, and a special beer from our wild ale program called Skookumchuck Wild Ale. The beers were named in a contest by EWEB employees.
The pale ale will be released in draft only starting at the Eugene Emeralds Game on Tuesday July 26th. Come on out to the ball game at 7PM and check it out. The Lager will be released in both 22 ounce bottles and draft at some point in September. The Wild Ale comes out in Novemeber in 750 ml bottles with a cork and cage finish.
In working with EWEB to commemorate this anniversary, we wanted to do something to give back and to help protect the Watershed where our beer begins it’s life. We found the McKenzie River Trust, and are donating proceeds from the beers to them and the Berggren Demonstration Farm. The Berggren Demonstration Farm, located along the McKenzie River, is a new collaborative project located on 92 acres east of Springfield, Oregon. This project offers several unique opportunities:
- Protect water quality within the McKenzie River watershed by restoring habitat that maintains and enhances biological diversity and floodplain hydrology
- Promote the development of community food systems by demonstrating sustainable and economically viable farming practices
- Provide educational and outreach opportunities for students and farmers
Please join us in supporting this valued mission and protecting the McKenzie River Watershed so that we can have great water here in Eugene for years to come.
