Well-Mannered Gnome makes a ‘short’ appearance

You know the Ill-Tempered Gnome, and we made an Imperial version called Very Ill Tempered Gnome last winter, but what of a Well-Mannered Gnome??? Well-Mannered Gnome, the third in our series of Gnome Beers, is a “small” beer. Small beers are made from the second runnings of Imperial or ‘Double’ beers. When we brew Very Ill Tempered Gnome (still in tank and will debut at the Holiday Ale Festival in Portland Dec 1-5), there are a lot of fermentable sugars still available that often are destined for the drain. This is an unfortunate reality when making high alcohol winter beers. Luckily, though, we had another fermenter open and made a beer from those last runnings. Made from the same ingredients as Ill Tempered Gnome and Very Ill Tempered Gnome, the Well Mannered is light bodied, but still retains much of the flavors of the 6 specialty malts and 4 American hops. We even added a touch of dry hopping at the end for a little extra aroma. Well-Mannered Gnome most closely resembles a Mild ale and with a lighter body and lower alcohol level (3.8% abv), will be the perfect beer for your long ‘sessions’ during the Thanksgiving week of eating and watching football.
Our Small beer will only be available at the tasting room, at Starlight Lounge in Eugene, and at a special ‘Gnome’ event at the Bier Stein on December 15th. Happy Thanksgiving!
Cheers! Matt
