Cheers to Beers everyone! First some important info you need to know:
1) Sadly, Devour will NOT be at the Oakshire Tasting Room this Saturday afternoon(April 17th). You’ll need to grab a bite before coming out, but PLEASE do come out. We’d like to share a pint with you anyway and I’ll see if Eriel has any cheese samples to share! No guarantees, I’ll do my best.
2) We’ve decided you all should be at the 2010 Sasquatch Beer fest on Saturday May 15th, and we should be too, so we will be closing the tasting room that Saturday. Please come down to the Hilton and share a beer with us there.

CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE AND WORLD BEER CUP
Finally, Jeff and I had a great trip back to my home beer town of Chicago. The 2010 Craft Brewers Conference was hosted by Chicago and the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. And they did a bang up job. From special brewery and bar events, to architecture boat tours, to bus tours of distant breweries, there was plenty of events for everyone. Highlights included the opening reception at the Field Museum, our Flosmoor Station Brewers Past and present event, and the many great sessions we attended to try learn how to do a better job of what we are doing here at Oakshire. And of course there were all the old friends and brewers that I knew from my 15 years living in the city’s metro area. Highlights of our touring included Two Brothers Brewing, Flossmoor Station, Three Floyds, and Goose Island. Revolution Brewing is definitely the best new Brewpub in Chicago. Sadly we missed seeing Half Acre and Metropolitan, but I’m certain Oakshire will find there way back to the city one day.
The week wrapped up with the World Beer Cup Gala Dinner. Wow! What a meal. Homebrewchef Sean Paxton cooked out of his mind as he paired several courses with great beer from the local area and a few from farther afield. What a great night. Sadly, Oakshire did not win a World Beer Cup award, but hats of to those who did, including 13 beers from our friends here in Oregon. Considering this is the largest and most prestigous beer competition in the world, we’re doubly proud of our friends who did take home awards.
Detailed lists of the winners can be found here.
